- Small Steps- Start with the basics, students will be out of routine. You need to make sure that you have a consistent way of delivering your message.
- Plan, Plan & Plan- Limited contact time means that you must have work that can be completed out of the class. I think for this approach to be effective students will have to be able to successfully complete the work to prevent them from becoming demotivated.
- Quality – Do not see the start back as ‘catch up missed time’. This would be unachievable and probably pointless. Ensure the topics you choose are the key foundations of the subject. This will help the students prepare for the start back in September where there are opportunities to make up time.
- Heads of Department – Use the last few weeks to make sure your SoW are well planned out etc. You need to ensure that you have almost a lesson by lesson plan to make best use of time. Consider the use of schema to help build the students' knowledge as they progress through the school.
- Be flexible – This seems contradictory to the previous point. However, with the possibility of a second lockdown etc. you need to be creative. Have a plan but be prepared to adapt when needed.
